The Role

Excellent opportunity to work in this artisan craft bakery who are proud to supply high end products to retailers and food service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ownership and accountability for the operation's interpretation of the relevant BRC standards
  • and all relevant retailer standards
  • Championing BRC/ retailer standards throughout the organisation, and embedding
  • appropriate best practice in the total team
  • Staying close to all food industry and relevant government regulatory bodies in order to
  • ensure the highest level of working knowledge
  • Leadership and development of the site Technical team, including Hygiene & Maintenance staff
  • Ensure a comprehensive HACCP system is implemented, monitored and reviewed, in order to
  • ensure product quality and safety is of the highest level
  • Maintenance, audit and evolution of the bakery’s Quality Management System, embedding
  • strict food safety & hygiene processes and procedure
  • Site health & safety procedure and ongoing management- promotion and enforcement of a safe
  • working environment
  • Maintenance of up to date QC records and control of all documentation regarding quality system

The Person

  • Strong track record in Technical roles in food production is essential, ideally within wholesale bakery (qualifications in Food Science of similar)
  • Comfortable with a “hands on” approach to management, and close working with a busy team
  • Experience of structured Technical & Operational processes and “daily excellence” in food safety, traceability recording and other high-level working practises
  • Experience of working with UK retailers, and associated audit bodies (e.g. BRC)
