Product Development Manager, Northern Scotland

Our client is a leading food manufacturer, who show their passion for food across their products and processes, now seeking a product development manager to oversee the NPD lifecycle for their range, producing products for many well-known brands.

Key Accountabilities

Ensuring commercially and operationally viable products are developed produced and launched to plan
Briefing and co-ordinating ingredient suppliers
Developing and formulations of new products according to project briefs
Assisting with NPD taste panels, in connection with commercial objectives
Managing the successful implementation of new recipes
Leading a team of 3 product and process technologists
Driving day to day operations with the NPD department
Working with both branded and customised products
Maintaining a proactive approach, working closely with the category development team to monitor and react to market trends

Personal Profile

Development experience preferably within liquid and fat-based emulsions (branded or private label)
A pro-active problem solver, continuously seeking to improve methods and procedures
Organised and able to ensure high levels of data accuracy
A natural relationship builder, developing strong internal and external customer relationships
Finely tuned communication skills, excellent diplomacy and able to deal at all levels
A science degree, preferably in food processing, food science, food technology or related science discipline
A track record leading and developing a team
Proven ability to deliver projects on time and to commercial target
A clear understanding of HACCP and food safety
Sound packaging solutions knowledge
Astute commercial awareness
A flexible attitude and an open mind
