A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join one of the world’s leading retailers as a Customs Manager.

Job Role

You will be responsible for the setting up of a Customs and Excise division, managing the team thereafter with all transactions for the supply chain. Developing and managing a Customs & Excise Team is pivotal to the success of the organisation and the Customs Manager plays a vital role within this.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the completion of assorted HMRC Customs & Excise declarations and assist the business to ensure it is legally compliant with HMRC Customs & Excise regulations
  • Lead your team ensuring you keep focus on key goals and objectives, working collaboratively to deliver success
  • Ensure relevant Customs & Excise HMRC returns are met
  • Monitor HMRC deferment account and associated guarantee levels
  • Provide support to the team on difficult HTS code classifications (using GIR's)
  • Train in Customs & Excise to internal colleagues, explaining and engaging
  • Keep abreast of changes in legislation
  • Be proactive, plan-ahead, anticipate and manage risks
  • Develop and review documented procedures and training material
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships and networks to ensure sufficient cover during regulatory deadlines
  • Drive a positive team culture and develop behaviours
  • Respond to technical queries from internal and external business partners
  • Support with the development, design and implementation of internal controls
  • Proactive in managing your personal development

Personal Profile

  • Excellent communication and team-working skills
  • Highly experienced in Customs and Excise
  • Knowledge of 3PL Management
  • Commercially awareness with budget management experience
  • 2:1 degree level or above education required
